On dark fairy tales aesthetics
Modern dark fairytale is an artistic look upon the folklore through the lents of anti-utopia. It is not a fantasy I must admit. Placed by it's early creators on the edge of genres it inherits and shares core ideas and concepts of both folklore and anti-utopia. Authors derive their inspiration mostly from delirious and dark aesthetics of late XX century punk and gothic sub-cultures.
